What is Ortho-K (Orthokeratology)?

Ortho-K, or orthokeratology, is a non-surgical and reversible treatment for vision correction that uses specially designed contact lenses worn overnight. These lenses gently reshape the cornea, improving vision so you can see clearly throughout the day without the need for glasses or daytime contact lenses.

Ortho-K Lenses

Orthokeratology, or Ortho-K, is a revolutionary contact lens option that corrects your vision while you sleep. These specially designed lenses gently reshape the cornea overnight, allowing you to wake up with clear vision and go about your day without the need for glasses or contact lenses. Ortho-K is an excellent choice for managing nearsightedness (myopia) and can also address astigmatism. It’s particularly popular among patients seeking freedom from daytime lenses or considering non-surgical alternatives. Discover more about Ortho-K.

Benefits of Ortho-K:

Clear Vision Without Glasses or Daytime Contact Lenses

Enjoy crisp, clear vision during the day without the hassle of wearing glasses or inserting contact lenses. This is particularly beneficial for people with active lifestyles, sports enthusiasts, or those who work in dusty or dry environments.

Non-Surgical and Reversible

Unlike laser eye surgery, Ortho-K is completely non-invasive and reversible. If you decide to stop wearing the lenses, your vision will gradually return to its original prescription.

Slows Down Myopia Progression in Children

Numerous studies have shown that Ortho-K can slow down the progression of myopia (short-sightedness) in children. This makes it an excellent option for parents who want to protect their child’s long-term eye health.

Freedom for Active Lifestyles

Ortho-K lenses make it easier for people to participate in sports, outdoor activities, or water-based hobbies without the need for glasses or contact lenses.

Comfortable and Easy to Use

Since Ortho-K lenses are worn at night while you sleep, they eliminate common daytime discomforts associated with regular contact lenses, such as dryness or irritation.

Improved Quality of Life

By providing freedom from glasses or daytime lenses, Ortho-K enhances convenience, confidence, and quality of life. You wake up ready to see the world clearly!

Safe for All Ages

Ortho-K is suitable for both children and adults, offering a versatile option for vision correction across age groups.

If you’re looking for a safe, effective, and flexible alternative to glasses, daytime contact lenses, or surgery, Ortho-K could be the perfect solution.

What Eye Prescriptions Is Ortho-K Suitable For?

1. Myopia (Short-Sightedness)
Ortho-K is most effective for mild to moderate myopia, typically up to -6.00D. • It is particularly popular among children and teens (link to children’s eyecare) to help manage the progression of myopia.

2. Astigmatism
Ortho-K can correct low to moderate levels of astigmatism, generally up to -2.50D. Specialised lens designs can address these irregularities in the cornea.

Key Considerations:Corneal Shape and Health: Ortho-K is suitable for individuals with healthy eyes and a corneal shape that allows for reshaping. We will assess this during an initial consultation.

If your prescription falls within these ranges, Ortho-K may be a great fit for you. Book an appointment with our team (link to contact us page) for a personalised consultation to determine your eligibility for this revolutionary vision correction treatment!
